Groundwater Partners Inc. (GWP) is seeking a Construction Manager with construction management, project controls, scheduling and construction cost estimating capabilities and experience to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This candidate will perform related activities on construction and environmental remediation projects. Primary activities will include project budget tracking, scheduling, construction cost estimating, invoicing, crew and equipment scheduling/coordination, and client interface.

Key responsibilities

  • Understanding of the construction estimating and project controls and scheduling process for implementation of construction from engineering design plans and specifications 
  • Prepare and update construction schedules using Primavera or Microsoft Project
  • Prepare tables and figures for cost tracking and other project control uses
  • Coordination with the project superintendent, foreman and field crew related to scope details and logistics
  • Contact vendors to research product applicability specific to project requirements
  • Evaluate subcontractors’ performance against schedule, budget and specifications
  • Follow company safety standards, site safety standards and audit subcontractor safety activities
  • Meet assigned schedules and budgets
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 1 week per month (could be a couple trips per month for a couple of days per trip) – to visit clients, attend project meetings or conferences, to audit or evaluate field team’s performance during construction, and to conduct field project kickoffs as needed. 
  • Must have attention to detail and produce high quality, error free documents

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years + project controls, scheduling, estimating and construction management
  • Earthwork specific experience required
  • Must be a self-starter with good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong writing and communication skills required
  • Proficient in: Primavera or MS Project, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PW, etc) 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required
  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours when required
  • Willingness to travel to other offices or project sites, as needed
  • Willingness to work for a small business, where a wide variety of tasks will need to be performed, and working with a small team
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the GWP’s driving policy

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and processes
  • Experience in producing estimates in a competitive environment, and assessing cost risks relative to contract terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of labor productivity, construction equipment requirements for various types of work, direct and general conditions cost, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience using cost estimating software such as Timberline, RS Means, and Excel spreadsheets
